Bartow History Center:
Essential Ingredients: The Joy of the Cookbook explores the evolution of printed cookbooks through the decades. From vintage classics to modern favorites, the exhibit examines how these kitchen staples have shaped the way we cook, eat, entertain, and gather. Featuring a curated selection of cookbooks and interpretive materials, the exhibit highlights the cultural and social stories found within their pages.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy this flavorful journey through culinary history and discover how recipes have preserved traditions and reflected changing tastes over time.
Booth Western Art Museum:
The museum is honoring Women's History Month through the exploration of the Booth's collection via a free guided digital tour. This tour features female artists, historic female figures and celebrates women who have trailblazed paths in American Western Art.
High Museum of Art:
The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans: Minnie Evans once said her drawings of harmoniously intertwined human, botanical, and animal forms came from visions of "the lost world," or nations destroyed by the Great Flood as described in the Book of Genesis. After her grandmother died in 1934 and the visions she experienced in childhood became stronger, Evans produced a large body of work ranging from abstract to representational styles.
More than 100 of her artworks are presented in a range of contexts, from the extrasensory experiences of her visions to the double-edged realities of her life in the Jim Crow South. Her drawings, beautiful and complex, thus become portals into her "lost world."
Savoy Automobile Museum:
On Sunday March 8 at 1:00 p.m., guests are invited to join staff members for CarTUNES, a tour exploring the dynamic relationship between the automobile and music industries. From the earliest days of the automobile, musicians have celebrated cars as symbols of freedom, speed, and modern life. In turn, automobile manufacturers have leveraged the power of music to promote their vehicles and the allure of car ownership. This tour will examine not only vehicles but also works of art that demonstrate this long-standing and symbiotic relationship.
Tellus Museum:
Located on a 50-acre park-like campus just off I-75 in Cartersville, GA, Tellus is a world-class Smithsonian affiliate museum designed to open minds and ignite a passion for science. Tellus features six main galleries between two buildings, a 4K digital planetarium, an interactive fossil dig and gem panning area, and an observatory with a 20-inch telescope. With hands-on exhibits and eye-popping artifacts like an 80-foot-long Brontosaurus, a replica Wright flyer, and an amethyst geode weighing two metric tons, visitors of all ages can find something to enjoy.
